The Process

Each step of the pickling process happens under one roof at the Kesicke Farm Stand Kitchen, a family farm since 1944. No co-packing, no funny business. On any given day of operation, you’ll find 3-4 of us receiving produce from local farms and/or distributors, cutting and packing your final pickle by hand in a space just under 350 sq/ft!

Tucked away against Kesicke Farm Stand, we’re a year-round operation supplying local restaurants, marketplaces, farmers markets, and festivals with fresh fermented and pickled veggies alike. What we don’t use for official pickle activity, we contribute to the many farm animals on the property, including goats, chickens, pigs, and rabbits, and drag the rest to a compost pile.

We use no dyes, additives, preservatives, or other tricks to keep our pickles crisp, healthy, and delicious.

Our Story

At our core, A Pickle Story is about doing things the old school way —
no preservatives, no additives, and only natural ingredients that are easy to pronounce. Each item is meant to feel homemade, infused with care and beauty. That commitment to quality and flavor is strong as ever!

We continue this tradition from our parent company, Perry’s Pickles, established by the Perry family back in 2012 when they were looking for ways to supplement their growing family. 11 years flew by, in which time the Perrys built up a legacy of deliciousness, close to many people’s palates and hearts, in the Hudson Valley and beyond.

We go by the name “A Pickle Story” for the simple fact that there is the maker, the consumer, and the special thing that happens between those two moments. Where one jar closes, and eventually is opened — a memory, a story, an activation begins. More than our own, these "pickle stories" belong to you.

In fact, many patrons tell me about how they pickled with their grandparents, the smell of the kitchen, the childish wonder of selecting a jar from the cellar, a bit of nostalgia. This kind of connection is unique to pickles, and I feel honored to assume this key role in many people’s lives and pantries!

Owners, Len and Christina, of A Pickle Story, a brand by Perry's Pickle based out of Rhinebeck, New York.

Hi, there!

Here’s me, Christina, in a photo with my husband Len (a local literature professor), taken soon after assuming the reins in August 2023. I’ve gotten calls from North Carolina, emails from Texas, been called “Pickle Lady” in unexpected places (clothes shopping in Kingston), much to my delight. We’re just regular folks making food as if you came to our house.

With each passing year, I continue to count the blessings while setting my sights on meeting new goals, coming up with new flavors that feel fresh and relevant to the food we’re eating, and enjoying right now.
